As a parent, your child’s safety is your top priority. But when they’re in daycare, who ensures their well-being?

You might be considering daycare for your child, but you’re unsure about the daily routines teachers follow to keep them safe.

You are not alone in this sentiment. Many parents hesitate to enrol their children at a daycare because of this reason.

To understand how your child is cared for, let’s first talk about the people responsible for their safety—the daycare teachers.

Who is a Daycare Teacher?

Daycare teachers are caregivers who stand in place of you while you are away and give your child the appropriate learning environment for them to grow. They are skilled professionals who use various teaching models to nurture your child into brilliant minds.

In daycare, your child can develop social skills while playing with children of their age. The teacher facilitates this process. They oversee the children, ensure they speak to each other respectfully, and ensure everyone gets along.

Each teacher is trained to address any situations that might arise. Whether it is learning to use the potty or administering CPR to children, daycare teachers are ready to handle any situation that may arise.

The daycare is meant to be a second home for children and daycare teachers are meant to be the ones curating this environment.

“My 2.5-year-old is going to preschool for the first time ever and I’m so scared she will be crying and nobody will comfort her”

It’s the job of a good daycare teacher to comfort children adjusting from seeing only their family to a social setting with new faces. Finding a great childcare center is important so you can rest easy knowing your child is in safe hands.

Now that you know who daycare teachers are, let’s take a closer look at what a typical day in a life looks like.

What do Daycare teachers do Daily?

There are daily routines which many daycare teachers follow to make sure your child is safe and learning all he or she needs to grow.

The first thing they do is arrive early, clean the center, and prepare to receive children from their parents. When the children start coming in, each teacher is already assigned to their set of children. Each teacher is assigned a group of children. They ask parents for necessary items like water bottles, diapers, and clothing

Each child is guided to wash their hands before joining the rest of the class. The children are led to the cafeteria to have their breakfast, which will be prepared by the cafeteria lady at the school.

After eating, all the children are brought to a table with a lot of toys and they are allowed to socialize with each other if they want to speak with their teacher about their day they are free to sit on their lap and talk to them (teachers use this to check the mood of the children)

The children are advised to clean up the toys themselves and put all the necessary things in the right places with the help of the teacher. They are taken to their sections in which the teachers teach them songs or how to count, based on what level they are at, the children have a set of programs for the day.

Later in the day, children head to the playground for playtime. Teachers supervise the activities children engage in on the playground.

When fun time is over in the playground each child is allowed to take a nap. Each child has a bed of their own to make sure they are comfy and sleep well.

At the end of the day, teachers reunite children with their parents, after a full day of fun and happy moments.
